Almost 10 years ago, we were excited with the first 100,000 units on Wialon. At that time, 3 mln units seemed to us very distant and fantastic. In 2016, we celebrated our first million, and just 3 years later, it was followed by the second one.
Together with partners from OVERSEER, we are looking forward to connecting our first million units in the fall of 2016
In September 2021, Wialon became the world's first GPS tracking and IoT system with three million connected units. And this achievement is not only due to the Wialon team but also due to our partner community. We could not have risen so high without partners who continued to connect new units even under the toughest lockdowns, and hardware manufacturers who shipped first-class trackers and terminals, despite the supply chain disruptions of raw materials and components.
The chart shows how the number of connections has grown over the years
The last two years were challenging not only for telematics businesses but for the whole world. However, the Wialon partner community continued to do its job and adapted to the new conditions. The stable growth trend indicates that in a while, we will definitely pass the milestone of 4 million units.
“However this world might change, whatever direction the development of the automotive industry might take, Wialon will keep growing even faster and will remain a product used by thousands of companies in different parts of the world. It doesn't matter if the projects will be related to fleets or drones, or maybe even flying taxis one day: we will follow new trends.
Dozens of specialists in our offices work every day to ensure that the Wialon platform remains the market leader, allowing our partners to face the future with confidence,” said Aliaksandr Kuushynau, Head of Wialon, during his speech at the GPS Hardware Manufacturers TOP 10 2021 award ceremony.
First of all, there are many years of work of thousands of people behind this magic number. The statistics will tell a bit more:
And this is how 3 million units are distributed across regions. The first place is taken by Russia and Central Asia (Wialon is the #1 telematics and IoT platform in Russia and the CIS countries), followed by Europe and North America.
Our presence is still not vast in some countries and regions, such as Turkey or Scandinavia. Africa and South America are also a window of opportunities for Wialon partners.
Distribution of Wialon units by regions
Now let’s talk about the partner who connected the historic unit to Wialon.
The lucky one was a company from Mexico, Cobertura Total en Telemetria Mexico (CTTMX). We should note that this is not just about luck. CTTMX is one of the largest Wialon partners in Mexico, and this country ranks third in the world regarding the number of units connected to the platform. Thus, CTTMX not only connected unit No.3,000,000 but also made a significant contribution to achieving this milestone.

Facts about CTTMX:
Each time, talking about the success of our company and product, we emphasize: it is all the result of every Wialon community member's efforts, no matter whether you have a hundred or ten employees, whether you are in Samara, Cape Town, or Dubai, whether you work with fuel truck fleets, farms or railway transport.
Aliaksandr Kuushynau,
Head of Wialon
“This is a great achievement both for Wialon and the entire partner community. The fact that we’ve reached the 3 million unit mark increases our credibility in the eyes of current and future platform users.
Over the past year, we not only strengthened Wialon's leadership in the IoT and vehicle monitoring market but also became the world's first platform with this many connected units.
I would like to sincerely thank the entire Wialon community. This is our common victory, and I’m sure we'll do a great deal more.”
