Fighting product theft in Mexico

Problem

Bafar is a major foodstuffs manufacturer and distributor in Mexico. The company was in search of a solution that would put an end to product theft. 

• Around 12 cases of theft on the routes were reported monthly.
• Thefts in the company’s retail store stocks resulted in profit losses of about $200,000.

Solution

The Wialon partner CTTMX, Mexico, offered a solution that allowed Bafar to increase security in the warehouses and during goods transportation.

• The CTTMX specialists equipped the client's vehicles with CalAmp 2840XT GPS trackers. Data collected by the trackers is processed by the Wialon monitoring platform. Then the information gets to the custom-developed cloud solution called IoT Control Solutions Hub.
• The IoT Control Solutions Hub allows the client to monitor the fleet in real-time and get notifications on the statuses of their trips, alerts in case of deviations from routes, etc.
• The solution is integrated with flespi that is used for collecting data from the IoT devices.
• TSN turrets are used to ward off thieves. Activated by notifications, these devices produce sound and light signals. Notifications are configured and customized to inform the owners about the theft attempt.
