Challenge
The client is a governmental agency in Benin that sells and leases agricultural equipment such as tractors to farmers at a reduced price through government grants. Previously such projects failed because their owners could not control vehicles and other assets across vast and remote areas. Farmers didn’t follow a maintenance schedule of the rented equipment and abandoned it once issues started emerging. Lost assets came at a huge cost to the government that didn’t receive any return on investment.
Solution
Our partner, SLI AFRIKA, developed a farming and tractor GPS tracking system for a fleet of one thousand vehicles.
The solution consists of the following elements:
- FMB920 tracking devices and EYE beacons were installed on tractors. These models by Teltonika provide real-time information about tractor location and allow to send notifications to its users when the asset is at risk;
- the Wialon server solution that supplies fleet managers with analytics data to assist in maintaining the rented equipment.
The agency benefit from the tractor gps tracking system in a number of ways. They:
- adjust maintenance schedules;
- create reminders for scheduled maintenance and part replacement;
- reduce risks of the tractor’s misuse and damage.
Results
This farming and tractor GPS tracking solution provides control tools needed to cover the issues of the client. The company is planning to connect ten thousand agricultural vehicles to this project within 24 months.
Operators and fleet managers track engine hours and provide timely maintenance services.
The client can track their equipment located anywhere in Benin.
Tractor owners better control and take care of their high-value assets.
