On August 9, we published the post featuring the upcoming release of the new Wialon mobile app. Today, we are delighted to let you know that it is officially out and available for downloading (or updating if you already have the app on your device).

Before the release, the new version came through a bit of a journey. We launched the open beta-testing of the new Wialon app several months ago and received a great amount of valuable feedback which we are extremely grateful for. Wialon app 2.0 is not just an update, it was tested by hundreds of Gurtam partners and renewed to make it an effective monitoring tool for fleet owners.

Wialon mobile app 2.0 features

New design and convenient navigation

First of all, we updated the app design to make it more appealing. But that’s not all: switching between the tabs now requires just one tap to save the precious time of the users.

Reports tab

Fleet owners can now generate reports by selecting the unit, report template, and time interval. Also, PDF export is available – there is no more need to use the desktop version of Wialon to build the report. Users get analytics right where they are at the moment.

Work with units groups

App users can send commands to unit groups and search by groups’ titles. For example, they’d rather send a message to the entire group of units instead of spending more time on sending the same message one-by-one to each unit separately. Essential for larger fleet management!

Search for units directly on the map

App users are now able to find the unit through the search field and go on working with it. It comes in handy as they don’t have to scroll and zoom the map trying to find a necessary unit.

New tab for managing notifications

Now fleet owners can create new notifications and edit the already existing ones as well as view the notifications history. On top of that, there’s the option of switching on/off the types of notifications they want to receive. Uncluttering the notifications flow will make the app experience more organized and controllable.

White label

White label option is available for the new app so you can offer it to the end clients under your brand. Send all the questions on its use to your personal manager or shoot a note to sales@gurtam.com.

Wialon Local

The mobile app for Wialon Local (Android, iOS) was also updated and got the exact same functionality as the one for Wialon Hosting.

Important: as technically the update will be available for the users of all Wialon Local versions, only the users of Wialon Local 1904, 1804, 1704 will be able to fully appreciate all the new features.

If users of Wialon Local 1604, 1504 update the mobile app, it will be working only for a limited period of time, up to 6 months after updating the app. You'll see the exact date of switching off in your app. After this date, the app will become incompatible with the current software. You won't be able to roll back to the older version in this case. If you'd like to continue using the mobile app 2.0, please update your Wialon Local version to the current one.

We hope that you'll enjoy both the updated mobile app and the recent Wialon Local version.

Oleg Poroshin

Product Manager, Mobile Department, Gurtam

“Features are very important when it comes to user experience, but we didn't stop there. The revamp was also needed to provide sustainable growth for the app. The 2.0 version is based on Clean Architecture principles.

Basically, it's a concept of building software which doesn't depend on frameworks, where business logic is separated from the interface, and where modules are also separated from each other. We've chosen this concept to build a new architecture which allows us to add the new features faster and easier.

What is more, the new version was built using Swift and Kotlin, modern programming languages, to stay at the top of the latest coding trends and quality software requirements. The best apps from Google, Apple and other global companies use these languages to create their apps.”

Coming soon

This is not all, of course. We keep working on the app to make your mobile Wialon experience even better. So, the upcoming features will include:

  • Managing geofences (creating, editing, and deleting). This feature will provide the end users with more freedom in adjusting the monitoring settings on the go without the need to jump to Wialon desktop interface.

  • Streaming video. For many customers of our partners, video is not just an actionable trend, but a necessity, so we’ll make sure these users get the video options right in their Wialon mobile app as well.

We are always open to discussing current and new functionality. Let us know what you need most of all.

Where to get the new app?

Today, Wialon app 2.0 appeared on Google Play and App Store, replacing the old version of the app. You can update it manually, or it will be updated automatically (depending on the settings of your phone or tablet). The beta version of the application is now removed from the stores.

If you haven’t tried the app yet, don’t hesitate and download it right now:
