What’s new in October: Wialon Hosting and WiaTag

Another month has passed and we are ready to present the latest functionality to the community. This time, it is about WiaTag and Wialon Hosting. Read on to learn how to hide your location during private trips and develop a new tracker app with the help of WiaTagKit library.

In Wialon, private trips stay private 

We added the “Do not show unit location” option in the “Private mode” sensor properties.

A small reminder: this sensor is used to distinguish between business and private trips. It is a big deal for sales representatives, for instance.

Added functionality: if the option is on and the “Private mode” is activated (by iButton or RFID, for instance), the dispatcher can’t see the unit location on the map, in the monitoring interface, tracks, reports, etc. 

It is handy when the drivers use their personal vehicles or they are allowed to use company vehicles outside working hours. Now, after the end of the working day, the driver can rest assured that nobody tracks them.

WiaTag is now for developers too 

Gurtam created WiaTagKit library that allows mobile devices to communicate with Wialon platform. It means that now you can easily add tracker functionality to any of your mobile apps or just develop a new one.

Why should you use the new WiaTagKit library?

• New closed protocol. It is more secure, up-to-date, and compact (if compared to the old GPSTag). It consumes less traffic and is harder to hack.

• You get a ready-made component which means you reduce the cost and the time of the development. Thus, your solutions appear on the market faster and you don’t have to put efforts into Wialon connection protocol development.

Download them, follow the instructions, and whatever app you are developing – now you can extend its functionality with a GPS tracker options.  

Although we've prepared the manuals for iOS and Android, the new library is also suitable for every OS where Java application can be launched – on your RasberyPI, for instance.
