What were you doing on October 5? If you don’t remember then you probably were not in Dubai – on this day we organized a hard-to-forget IoT event. Read the article to learn the details.
Telematics Dubai is the traditional Gurtam partner conference that takes place annually one day before the GITEX Technology Week, the biggest tech show for the Middle East, South Asia and North Africa.
This time, over 90 telematics and IoT professionals from 56 companies of the Gurtam community came here to meet and connect with their colleagues from different countries, share the experience and get to know the latest trends for their business enhancement.
But before the conference began, Olga Filonchuk, Head of Business Development at Gurtam, recollected TelematiX and the Wialon TOP 50 Global rating of 2019 honoring Tawasol Riyadh Company from Saudi Arabia for making it to the TOP 10 fastest growing Gurtam partners globally in 2019:
But it was not the end as there was one more company to be honored that day. We are talking about MaliaTec who connected the anniversary 2,200,000th unit:
Feel free to read the interview with Peter Chalhoub, Business Unit Manager at MaliaTec, on his feelings about the occasion.
After the opening part, Gurtam implementation specialists dived into the depth of Wialon new functionality so the partners could be fully aware of what they can offer to their clients.
Other than technical info, Gurtam Business Development Managers prepared the real-life success stories from all over the world. These stories varied from taxi monitoring in Iraq and сontrol of construction machinery in Australia to a waste management project in Cameroon and drivers monitoring in Uruguay – interesting, challenging, and thought-provoking at the same time. We are sure that during the presentation partners were trying to decide how these stories can bring value to their own projects.
You can find the use cases library on gurtam.com, and even more projects are described on the Gurtam blog.
On the other hand, both technology partners and service providers impressed the audience with well-grounded presentations of their solutions. For example, Walied Albasheer from Inbound, UAE, introduced their solution for corporate staff transfer that serves 90 million passengers annually. Sam Teng from Streamax, China, talked about the AI-powered video telematics solution. It helps companies save money in case of accidents and what’s more important – save peoples’ lives.

Each presentation brought out multiple questions and experience sharing from the conference participants which the speakers appreciated the most. The format of this article doesn’t allow telling about all the presentations but if we got you interested, the list of these presentations is available on my.gurtam.com (you can download them there) while the videos are posted on Gurtam YouTube channel.
Another Telematics Dubai highlight this year was, without a doubt, the panel discussion on how to make up a unique selling proposition to stand out in the telematics world. The discussion featured Rajeev Bajaj from Albasmart, Saif Esmail from Integrated Solutions, Sameer Obeid from Traklink, and Karim ElDessouky from Cloud Services Group. They shared their expert ideas and made the community even more advanced not just in how to create workable solutions but also in how to promote them.
During the panel, the participants dwelled on such topics as:

Olga Filonchuk shares her thoughts about the conference:
“Telematics Dubai 2019 turned out to be the most successful and home-felt regional conference in my experience.
All presentations by Gurtam partners and co-exhibitors at the IoT zone were super useful and worthwhile. The guys delivered their talks like real pros. There were so many people wanting to ask questions after each presentation (be it Gurtam presentation or a partner one) that at times we even had to stop them to comply with time limits. I am very happy we are making events like that happen.
There are many telematics and IoT platforms out there, some of them have a more beautiful UI than Wialon, some of them are cheaper – but there is no other friendly and professional community like Gurtam community, and that’s the most important thing that we are building together.”
Partners also shared their impressions about the event.
Rajeev Bajaj, Managing Director at Albasmart:
“I was amazed to see the content of the conference. It was a great learning experience and the case studies were amazing. It’s an opportunity for everybody to learn how to grow your business, how to address new verticals.
The best part about the Gurtam partner conference is that the majority of partners who come here bring in immense experience. Their feedback gives you the platform to enhance your offering regardless of the kind of application you are developing. Otherwise, when you build your solution based on your ideas without feedback and communication, you can’t improve. So, it was great!”
For you to get the spirit of IoT and the overall atmosphere of the future that is almost here, we made the video featuring the GITEX IoT zone highlights.
Thanks to all the partners who visited the conference and contributed to the community! See you at the upcoming events!
