This spring, the Wialon team was excited to take part in two flagship tech events — GITEX Africa in Marrakesh and the debut edition of GITEX Europe in Berlin. These conferences united the most influential minds in the field — established tech leaders, breakthrough startups, and pioneering solution providers — to chart the course of digital innovation in telematics and IoT. For Wialon, both events provided invaluable platforms to strengthen partner relationships, initiate strategic conversations, and deepen our understanding of regional telematics landscapes.

Keep reading to get an inside look at our time at these expos.

GITEX Africa 2025

📍 Marrakesh, Morocco
📅 April 2025

GITEX Africa continues to cement its role as one of the continent’s key tech events. With 52,000+ visitors, 1,450+ exhibiting companies, and representation from over 130 countries, the event showcased Africa’s rapid digital transformation and innovation across sectors including AI, cyber tech, smart mobility, and IoT.

We were delighted to see many of our partners participating in the expo and appreciated the chance to connect in person. This dynamic environment also provided a variety of valuable insights into regional priorities and emerging opportunities on the African continent. Here are some key takeaways and observations we gathered from the event.

Smart fleet solutions on the rise across Africa

The African fleet management industry is experiencing rapid growth, with countries such as South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Egypt, and Morocco at the forefront of this expansion. GITEX Africa offered the Wialon team a valuable opportunity to explore how local businesses are leveraging telematics to address operational challenges and drive fleet digitalization, with a particular focus on Morocco as the host country.

Fleet management in Morocco is rapidly advancing, with a growing focus on ERP-integrated solutions that merge GPS tracking with HR, fuel, maintenance, and finance modules. There's a clear shift toward sector-specific platforms tailored for logistics, waste management, and public transport, alongside a rise in locally developed hardware that enables faster, more cost-effective, and regionally adapted deployments. AI-driven analytics are also gaining traction, offering predictive maintenance, real-time messaging updates, and detailed reporting to boost operational efficiency and visibility.

Zooming out from Morocco, similar patterns are emerging across the continent. Fleet operators are embracing vehicle tracking, IoT sensors, and dashcams to boost efficiency, safety, and cost control. These tools help monitor vehicle health, improve driver behavior, and ensure cargo security, while regulatory initiatives at national and continental levels are accelerating telematics adoption. Together, these factors are driving a dynamic, fast-growing market focused on practical, data-driven fleet optimization.

As these trends continue to gain momentum, Wialon is well-positioned to support the region’s telematics evolution. With 250,000 vehicles and assets already connected in Africa through a strong network of over 400 local partners, we remain committed to expanding our presence and helping businesses across the continent run smarter, more efficient fleet operations.

A moment to connect

Before the final day of the expo, we hosted a special partner dinner for Wialon community members. It provided a relaxed and engaging atmosphere to reflect on the first two days of the event, exchange insights on key trends, and dive back into the discussions that sparked during the expo.

We’d like to thank all our partners who accepted our invitation and joined us — it was a pleasure to spend the evening surrounded by an inspiring community of fellow telematics experts.

GITEX Europe 2025

📍 Berlin, Germany
📅 May 2025

GITEX Europe debuted with an impressive scale — over 30,000 attendees, 1,400+ exhibitors, and more than 750 startups from 100+ countries gathered to shape Europe’s digital future.

Themed “Advancing Europe’s Digital Future in Partnership with the World,” the event placed emphasis on cross-border cooperation and next-generation innovation. Presentations, workshops, and discussions covered a wide range of topics from AI and robotics to greentech, cybersecurity, and future mobility, with keynote sessions by thought leaders such as Geoffrey Hinton, often referred to as the "Godfather of AI".

How fleet digitalization takes shape in Europe

At GITEX Europe, we gained a deeper appreciation for the regulatory and structural complexity surrounding fleet digitalization in Europe — especially in Germany. The strict data privacy laws and national mandates for telematics usage require nuanced, locally aligned solutions.

For instance, video telematics faces significant regulatory challenges. In Germany, continuous video recording of drivers, pedestrians, or license plates is not permitted without active, informed consent. This regulatory framework calls for more advanced solutions — such as Quicklink’s AI-powered dashcams, which blur faces and license plates in real time and automatically delete footage when no critical events are detected. In cases where dangerous events — like distracted driving or sharp maneuvers — are recorded, the system can save and transmit the relevant footage to platforms like Wialon for further analysis.

We also observed a continued demand for basic telematics solutions, particularly cost-effective CAN data tracking and battery-powered trailer monitoring. Our partners note that in competitive or budget-conscious projects, decision-makers tend to prioritize ease of use and competitive pricing above all.

Reflecting on our experience, GITEX Europe proved to be a valuable event that served multiple purposes at once. It offered a great opportunity to reconnect with our partners in the region, ignite new collaborations, and gain a deeper understanding of the unique dynamics of local markets.

This local insight helps ensure that Wialon’s comprehensive, scalable, and localization-ready platform remains well-positioned to support our partners in delivering compliant and competitive solutions tailored to regional needs. Just as importantly, GITEX Europe provided a platform for mutual learning and the cultivation of lasting relationships — both essential to our shared success.

A relaxed community evening

Building on the success of a similar gathering at GITEX Africa, we organized a partner dinner during the expo. Our goal was to create a welcoming space that encouraged deeper relationships in a setting more conducive to strategic dialogue and partnership planning.

It was a great opportunity to connect beyond the busy expo floor and have meaningful conversations in a more relaxed atmosphere. We’d like to thank everyone who joined us and hope you enjoyed the evening as much as we did!

Looking ahead

Both GITEX Africa and GITEX Europe highlighted how businesses are being transformed and digitalized through the smart application of telematics — driven by global collaboration and a deep understanding of local needs.

As we continue supporting partners across diverse markets, these events provide the foundation for thoughtful expansion, adaptive technology development, and meaningful partnerships.

We’re grateful for all the conversations, collaborations, and connections made at both events — and we’d be happy to continue our productive dialogue or hear any partnership ideas you may have. Feel free to reach out to us at sales@wialon.com.
