Updates: what’s new in August 2021

In August, the Wialon team worked on your most frequent requests: a map in the new video module and a search in the vehicle type library. An important change came with Hecterra, where campaigns were introduced - now it is much easier to follow the progress of work in the field. We also made minor changes to NimBus and Logistics

Map with the unit position next to the video player

After the launch of the new Wialon video module, many users were asking to add a map next to the video player, in order to be able to watch a stream from a unit and in parallel to monitor the unit movement along the route.

Previously, users had to switch between the Video tab and the Monitoring tab, which caused extra effort. That’s why we’ve implemented a separate map widget in the Video tab: see a new icon there. Once you click on it, you get a map next to the video player. You can zoom in closer on the map, as well as zoom out and expand it to fullscreen.

Now you can watch a live stream and track the unit on the map at the same time.

Search field in the unit types library

The team continues to work on the unit types library and make it user-friendly.

Now you have a search field in the library. This helps quickly find the needed unit type.

Another change is the Recently used category with a list of unit types chosen lately. This would help you quickly find the vehicle type that you work with most frequently without wasting time on its everyday search.

The number of unit types in the Recently used category is not limited, they are arranged in alphabetical order, and can be deleted and re-added automatically.

Production campaign control

In Hecterra, a campaign means agricultural work planning and control over its implementation.

Now we have a new Campaigns tab in the navigation panel that you can use for medium-term planning.

The campaign includes the following properties:

  • operations to be carried out in the campaign (sowing, combining, etc.);
  • interval, i.e. dates of the operations (from 2 to 30 days);
  • selected fields in which the campaign will take place.

After you create and save your campaign in Hecterra, you need to register cultivations every day. This allows the application to build a graph based on the data obtained during the campaign: the total area, how much work has been completed, whether the campaign is running late/ahead of schedule, etc.

The data is displayed in the form of a general report on the selected parameters and a report for each day of the campaign separately. Now you can easily determine how much work needs to be done per day to meet the deadline. And it’s just as easy to see things that are behind schedule, for example, and take measures to catch up.

New Units page

We have added a new Units page to the menu where you can see a list of all the available units and their characteristics, including the usage cost for each unit per 1 km, 1 hour, 1 order, and 1 vehicle departure.

What does it mean for your work? First of all, now the dispatcher sees the cost values for each vehicle, uses them to calculate the route cost, monitors other parameters, and, as a consequence, can find the most suitable transport for an order.

Second, the dispatcher not only sees unit properties but can edit them for each vehicle. For example, if the vehicle’s carrying capacity or volume has changed, they can be easily updated in the app.

Order migration upgrade

It has become more convenient to move orders from route to route. Now the areas in the table where you can move an order are highlighted in orange.

In addition, it’s become possible to arrange orders in the most efficient sequence. To do this, try to transfer the order to the grouping line of the route. Orders in the table will get automatically updated, with applications in both routes arranged in the optimal sequence.

For greater user convenience, we’ve added a tooltip with the info on how to move orders from one route to another.

New table design

In the tables of the Planning, Routes, and Templates pages, we have redesigned the buttons, expanded the lines, and highlighted a line over which the cursor is pointed. The changes may be unnoticeable at first glance, but they make the Logistics interface more pleasant and user-friendly.

Automatic Online 2.0 mode activation for new depots

Earlier we added the Online 2.0 mode to the NimBus new public transport monitoring module. But you could only activate it manually.

Now the mode is enabled by default for new depots created by Wialon Hosting and Wialon Local users. For the latter, it works starting with the 2104 version, as older versions don’t support the new mode.

Daylight saving time (DST) for the USA and Canada

For North America, we’ve added a new option on the Depot settings tab in the Daylight saving time setting.

Once you choose and save the option, the time zone will shift automatically twice per year:

  • 1 hour back: second Sunday in March at 2 a.m.;
  • 1 hour ahead: first Sunday in November at 2 a.m.

Visit the forum and share your thoughts on the new features in NimBus.

We hope the updates will make working with Wialon and the applications more convenient. Test new features and don’t forget to leave comments on the forum – we read them carefully and always take your ideas into account in our work.
