A week-long Wialon Challenge held in Indonesia on August 21–27, has ended. Many of us eagerly followed the daily social media updates from our participants reaching new heights and even tracked their route online via Locator. It’s now time to share some event’s insights and impressions — there really is a lot to share!

The summit is conquered

Wialon Challenge is an adventure event designed exclusively for the Wialon partners who have achieved remarkable success in Wialon implementation and made a significant contribution to our community’s development. 15 partners representing diverse countries and regions were invited to take part in the extraordinary journey to Indonesia alongside 7 members of the Wialon team. You can get to know our adventurers in the previous blog article.

On the way to the top

Taking trekking poles in hands and throwing backpacks over the shoulders, the fearless team set off on a two-day journey. They waded through the jungle, climbed steep slopes, and resisted the headwind to reach that very grand peak — Mount Rinjani, the second-highest volcano in Indonesia.

The last and most challenging stage was the final 4,000 meters: total darkness, the mountain slope grew steeper, and the scree stones made each step harder. The goal of the Challenge crew was not only to reach the summit, but also to witness the stunning views around, opening at dawn.

“The uphill climb was challenging, but realizing what we've achieved is mind-blowing. We've faced our personal fears and exceeded our limits,” said Pablo Guillem, CEO of Localizador Sherlog.

Aliaksei Shchurko, Gurtam CEO, led the team and left the first footprint on the very top of the mountain. Aliaksei is a seasoned adventurer with prior volcano-climbing experience. A few years ago, he conquered Kilimanjaro, also with the Wialon partners.

“Words cannot convey the incredible feeling of being on the top of the mountain when all challenges are left behind and two contrasting sensations merge within you — the exhilaration of reaching the summit and the genuine harmony with nature. Sharing these emotions with the Wialon partners was a joy, and I hope everyone will have a chance to experience such an adventure at least once in their lifetime.”

Was it a challenge? Adventurers’ perspective

Wialon Challenge was full of “first-time” experiences for the travelers: first overnight camping, first long hiking, first volcano climbing, or first ever trip in such a multinational team. That is why, going through the same route, each participant faced an individual range of emotions, overcoming personal obstacles and reaching their own peaks.

We called this event a “challenge.” Which word would you use to describe it?

Newsworthy event

The arrival of 22 leaders of the telematics and IoT industry at one place couldn’t go unnoticed. Therefore, on August 26, right after the end of adventure, a press conference was held for Indonesian journalists. The event was addressed by Aliaksei Shchurko, Gurtam CEO, Aliaksandr Kuushynau, Head of Wialon, and John Grygorcewicz, Phoenix Solusi Indonesia CEO. Phoenix Solusi Indonesia is a telematics service provider and longtime Wialon partner. In 2023, the company reached the third place at Wialon Top 10 Asia Pacific proving once again its strong positions in the region.

At the press conference

Through the event, the speakers talked on how telematics innovations change our everyday life and impact the economy. The experts also highlighted Indonesia’s great potential for further development of the telematics industry. With the emergence of numerous new companies that provide services and develop telematics solutions or GPS devices in the Indonesian market, there is a promising opportunity for growth. These companies, from the speakers’ point of view, can harness the power of telematics and IoT industry to enhance revenue generation for the country and foster the creation of new local employment options.

Furthermore, the firsthand impressions of climbing the volcano with business partners accompanied this press conference, adding a special atmosphere to the discussion.

Where next?

After the participants of the Wialon Challenge had barely returned from the trip and started to reflect on their experience, heated discussions about the future adventure began. What to do next year? Sailing trip, desert jeep tour, or thrilling safari? The possibilities seem endless, and countless undiscovered places do await.

Wialon is eager to feel again the very special unity, open communication, and mutual support that emerged during the volcano conquest. Where we go next will largely depend on the preferences of our partner community members, and we hope the new adventure won’t keep us waiting long.

Are you ready to join us next time? Be an active member of the Wialon community and drive the growth of the telematics business in your region with us. Together we can get to any top.
