The IoT project of the year competition is back! Share your success globally

Today, June 4, we’re starting to accept applications for IoT project of the year, a global contest of fleet management and IoT projects run by Wialon. 

For the fourth time, we invite companies delivering comprehensive telematics and IoT solutions in various business spheres to participate. If you helped a fleet become more effective, profitable, and safer, tell us about it, and you'll have a chance to receive worthy recognition and win valuable prizes!

Here are the contest details you need to know before submitting your application.

What is IoT project of the year?

IoT project of the year is a unique competition among technological companies, telematics service providers, and integrators who have implemented projects for specific clients in fleet management using telematics and IoT technologies.

Wialon organizes this competition to promote the use of modern tools to solve different business issues. It also aims to create a platform for companies worldwide to showcase and exchange ideas, recognize contributions in the telematics field, and share their achievements.

Projects of any scale, industry, or complexity are welcome. We place no special requirements on the hardware or software used in the project.

How to apply?

If you are a Wialon service provider, please submit your application via my.wialon.com. The rest of the applicants are welcome to fill out this form. Applications submission will last until August 2.

We accept applications in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, or Russian. Also, there is no limit to the number of projects you can submit. More applications — more chances to win!

However, your project must be fully completed by now and have an appropriate confirmation from your client. The competition participant rules provide more details about this and other requirements. The requirements are simple, and the application process is quick and easy. You’ve already done the hardest part by launching the project; all that remains is to describe it.

Who will evaluate projects and how?

Project evaluation will be carried out by a professional jury that includes Wialon, flespi, GPS-trace team members, and other industry experts. The panel of judges will be known shortly.

Projects will be sorted into four categories based on their complexity and fleet size. The jury will evaluate each project according to specific criteria, such as scalability, innovation, effectiveness, and practicability, to determine the finalists and winners in each category. “This year, we are placing a strong emphasis on diversity. We understand that great results and innovative solutions can be achieved in projects for both a small construction company with 50 vehicles and a big taxi fleet with 1,000 cars. We plan to categorize projects by size and evaluate each within its own category. Therefore, I encourage you to submit any projects you worked on during the last year. And if any issues arise, our Project Implementation team will be there to help you.”

When will the results be announced?

The jury will select up to 40 finalists by September 19, 2024. All finalists will be invited to the award ceremony in Dubai on October 13. There, we’ll announce 12 winners and present 4 Grand Prix to the top winners, one per category.

On the day of the award ceremony, Dubai will also host the traditional Wialon community reunion. Wialon partners are welcome to attend the ceremony, regardless of their participation in the competition. The ceremony will be held at the same venue, right after the main program.

Over the years, IoT project of the year has earned a reputation as a prestigious international competition, attracting both startups and large market players. This contest doesn’t go unnoticed by the world’s leading media. And the award ceremony always turns out to be a bright and memorable occasion for everyone, filled with a unique sense of unity and camaraderie among the community of IoT leaders.

At the beginning of the article, we also mentioned prizes. So, what are they? 

As stated above, all finalists will receive invitations to Dubai, which offers a unique opportunity to network with telematics industry experts from around the globe. Additionally, their projects will be published on wialon.com. They will also gain the status of Finalist of IoT project of the year 2024.

12 winners will receive the corresponding status of the Winner of IoT project of the year 2024. Moreover, their projects will be promoted in the media. All the winners will also be awarded a prepaid $1,000 card to be used for marketing purposes.

The 4 out of the 12 winning projects mentioned above that score the biggest number of points in their categories will be awarded the Grand Prix: participating in the Wialon IoT zone of their choice free of charge in 2025 or up to $2,000 travel expenses coverage for visiting any Wialon event for one company representative.
