We're excited to share the Wialon updates released in the first three months of 2024. In this article, you’ll learn about the new features designed to enhance user experience, making it even more smooth and efficient. We'll highlight several updates to core Wialon functionality, including marking false fuel fillings and drains, auto-addition of units to the work list, video improvements, as well as updates to the solution designed specifically for vehicle leasing companies (LeaseControl).

Marking false fuel fillings and drains

Users can now mark fuel fillings and drains as false events. This feature proves helpful in scenarios where the system mistakenly logs fuel fillings and drains. For instance, if a vehicle is on a slope, the fuel level sensor might detect a sudden change.

False events will be labeled on maps, charts, and tracks with a special icon, and the associated data won't be used in calculating fuel-related metrics. This way, users will get even more precise fuel reports.

Auto-addition of units to the work list

We’ve introduced the automatic addition of new units to the work list, simplifying the process for users. When this option is enabled, there’s no need to take any extra steps — new units will be added to the list as soon as they appear.

This functionality is available to all users, regardless of the number of units. For users with fewer than 20 units, the feature is activated by default. Users with over 20 units need to enable auto-addition themselves — instructions on how to do it are provided in the system tooltip.

Please note that once the auto-addition is enabled, manual addition of units, list modification, or removal of units becomes unavailable.

Improved interface for viewing media files

We've revamped the interface for viewing media files, giving it a more modern look and standardizing the design across different system elements.

To enhance user experience, we've also relocated key file details (the unit sending the file, date and time, and precise unit location at the time of image or video transmission) along with the button panel for interacting with the asset — now these elements are conveniently grouped in one place.

Muting/unmuting video sound

We've introduced the option to mute/unmute video sound, including while viewing videos from messages, tracks, and reports.

Users can activate sound from a specific camera to get a deeper understanding of the event or mute the sound if it's irrelevant for analysis. Importantly, adjusting sound settings in Wialon will not affect browser sound settings.

Video quality selection

Users now have the ability to select the quality of video recordings or live streams. Standard quality is set as the default to minimize data usage. However, if users need to examine all the details for a more thorough event analysis and in-cabin cameras support the high quality recording, they can switch to viewing videos in higher resolution.

Solution for vehicle leasing companies (LeaseControl)

Accessing the functionality via the mobile app

Users now have the opportunity to manage their leased fleets directly within the Wialon app. This means they can easily track vehicles, set up geofences, receive alarm notifications, and remotely shut down the engine — all from the convenience of their smartphones. To access these features, log into the Wialon app using your LeaseControl credentials.

White-labeling option

Wialon partners can customize the solution's interface, e.g. change the name and logo, to match their branding. If you're interested in white-labeling, please reach out to your Partner Success Manager.

That's a wrap for today. We hope you found the overview of the Wialon updates released in Q1 2024 insightful.
