Wialon adds support for OEM vehicle data through High Mobility

Modern vehicles already come with built-in connectivity and generate a wide range of operational and diagnostic data. Using that data outside a manufacturer’s own system has often meant working with separate APIs, formats, and commercial arrangements for every brand.

The EU Data Act, applicable since September 2025, gives businesses and consumers greater control over the data generated by their connected products, including vehicles. They can access this information and choose to share it with a service provider of their choice. From September 2026, new connected products placed on the EU market will also need to be designed so that this data is accessible by default.

A new integration with High Mobility helps Wialon partners put that access to practical use. Supported OEM vehicle data can now be brought into all Wialon products — Wialon Hosting, Wialon Local, Wialon Lite, and Wialon Platform — through flespi, a telematics data platform built by the same team behind Wialon

How OEM data reaches Wialon

The chain is short: the vehicle sends its data to the manufacturer's cloud, High Mobility normalizes it, flespi passes it into Wialon, and the data appears alongside information from other connected vehicles and devices in Wialon.

This also simplifies the technical side of providing access to OEM data. Instead of starting a separate integration project for every vehicle brand, a Wialon partner can use an existing connection and start receiving supported vehicle data in Wialon. 

The exact data available depends on the vehicle brand, model, and data package selected in High Mobility.

More vehicle data, more ways to serve fleets

The European automotive telematics market is projected to grow from $22.5 billion in 2026 to $67.5 billion by 2034, at a CAGR of 14.7%. Modern vehicles already produce large volumes of useful information, and broader access to it gives partners more ways to serve their fleet customers.

In practice, OEM connectivity creates 3 key opportunities:

• Manage mixed-brand fleets in one system. Vehicles from brands such as Mercedes-Benz and Renault, together with trailers equipped with aftermarket trackers, can all be monitored in Wialon instead of across several manufacturer portals.
• Add leased vehicles more easily. When installing additional hardware is impractical, OEM data provides an alternative way to bring these vehicles into the fleet management system.
• Get vehicles connected faster. When supported OEM data is already available, there is no need to wait for hardware delivery, arrange an installer visit, or take the vehicle into a workshop.

OEM connectivity complements telematics hardware

Hardware independence has been part of Wialon from the start. It supports over 4,100 device models from more than 700 hardware manufacturers, giving partners the freedom to choose equipment that fits each fleet. OEM connectivity extends that flexibility further. 

It does not replace dedicated telematics hardware: trackers and other devices remain the right choice for many use cases and can provide data that built-in vehicle systems may not. Instead, OEM integration gives partners another option for supported connected vehicles. Depending on the project, they can use aftermarket hardware, manufacturer data, or a combination of both within Wialon.
