Wialon Platform, season 1: A year of building possibilities

From September 15 to 20, Wialon Platform will take center stage at the booth at IAA Transportation 2026 — and the timing could hardly be better.

Europe is a market where fleet digitalization must strike a difficult balance: everyday work should remain straightforward, while complex compliance requirements still have to be met. That need for balance has shaped much of Wialon Platform’s 1st year.

And quite a year it has been: an ambitious premiere, fast-paced development, and an unexpected plot twist. Partners connected vehicles, projects took shape, and more than 100 product updates expanded Wialon Platform’s capabilities.

In other words, it had all the ingredients for a documentary series — so to mark the 1st anniversary of Wialon Platform, here is the story told in 6 episodes.

Episode 1 — The Reveal

Vilnius, September 2025. More than a year of product development has led to this moment: Wialon Platform is ready for its onstage debut in front of over 500 industry professionals who know fleet management inside out. But what will they make of it?

The reveal took place at Gurtam’s Telematics & Connected Mobility conference, where the conversation centered on the future of fleet digitalization. Wialon presented an ambitious vision: to change how telematics service providers build and deliver fleet solutions — with Wialon Platform.

Customization and product ownership were part of the vision from day 1: partners building focused solutions for core fleet operations without developing every component from scratch. 3 connected interfaces brought everyone involved together — the provider, the fleet team, and the drivers — without forcing anyone into a rigid, one-size-fits-all screen:

• Wialon Platform Studio gave service providers the tools to configure, brand, and manage their solutions.
• FleetSpace gave fleet teams a straightforward workspace for managing everyday operations.
• Wialon Driver brought drivers into the workflow through a mobile app.

Alongside the pitch came an invitation: test Wialon Platform against real customer needs, challenge it, and show us where we could make it even better.

We’d shown partners what we had built. Now came the real question: what would they build with it?

Episode 2 — The Real-World Test

The demos start. And the partner questions get specific.

Telematics service providers in Spain, France, Romania, and other countries began exploring what Wialon Platform brought to their customers. Interest soon spread beyond Europe to Mexico, Sri Lanka, and other markets.

Trucks, delivery vans, passenger cars, construction machinery, even jet skis — the product was already finding its way into very different kinds of operations.

The possibilities were exciting; the feedback was practical. Partners wanted more detailed reports built around the metrics that mattered to their customers. Tachograph management needed to go further, and mobile access had to cover more of the daily workflow.

This was exactly the conversation we’d invited. Partners brought the real-world challenges, the questions, and the occasional “yes, but” — we turned that feedback into development priorities.

Episode 3 — Picking up Speed

The feedback is in, and development shifts into high gear. Release by release, Wialon Platform expands to cover more complex, targeted operational needs.

For the quicker version, here are the main directions development took.

Over its 1st year, Wialon Platform received 100+ product updates — from new major capabilities to interface improvements.

We’ll zoom in on just a few examples. Tachograph management shows remaining driving time and approaching rest deadlines in real time, and flags drivers close to an EU limit.

The Emissions feature calculates Scope 1 emissions and presents them in a monthly report.

Driver behavior insights follow the driver across different vehicles — so scoring stays consistent even in fleets where drivers don't have a fixed vehicle.

Sensor value automation triggers configured actions based on incoming readings, with an expression editor allowing complex logic. Private use switches tracking on and off by schedule or condition.

Custom reports and dashboards bring fleet metrics together in visual views, with drill-down into the underlying data and pre-filtered reports. The Wialon Platform plugin for ChatGPT offers an even shorter route: ask a plain-language question and get the relevant account information.

Reusable configurations help providers get the next fleet up and running faster. Telemetry presets simplify device setup, user roles reuse permission sets across customer teams, and customer templates can include driver behavior criteria and vehicle form settings

Wialon partners gained far more branding options, bringing their own name, logo, icon, and colors across the customer experience.

Episode 4 — The Inside Story

Nothing in the original plan said "hospital basement." Yet here we are: this year, Wialon Platform learned to find things indoors.

Remember that plot twist we mentioned? Indoor asset tracking wasn’t on the roadmap when Wialon Platform launched. Then, collaboration with Teltonika brought a new project opportunity into view. The product’s flexible, flespi-based architecture made it possible to turn the idea into a working capability.

Indoor asset tracking in Wialon Platform uses Teltonika hardware powered by Wirepas Mesh technology. Compact tags are attached to tools, equipment, or other assets; anchors and gateways detect their signals. Wialon Platform then places each asset on a digital floor plan and shows its floor and zone on the web and mobile.

The capability is still new, and what’s interesting is where it can take our partners. It opens a new type of project with customers they may already serve: factories where a missing shared tool can hold up a repair, warehouses with equipment moving between zones, hospitals, ports, and rental operations tracking their own inventory — to name just a few.

Episode 5 — In the Partners’ Words

For the penultimate episode of the season, 3 partners take the mic to share what caught their attention about Wialon Platform — and why.

One year ago, Wialon Platform was a bold idea: a new way for partners to build fleet solutions. You can see just how much its capabilities have expanded.

Episode 6 — What Comes Next

Wialon Platform has come a long way in just 1 year. Season 2 is already in production.

Cut forward to Hanover. When IAA Transportation 2026 opens on September 15, live demos and project conversations at the Wialon booth will shift the focus from how Wialon Platform got here to where it goes next.

“Video telematics and enhanced tachograph management are among our main priorities for the next stage. At the same time, we’ll continue developing indoor asset tracking and automation, while making solution setup easier.

As in the 1st year, real partner projects and feature requests will help guide the product roadmap. Custom analytics is a good example: as partners bring more real-world reporting scenarios to the table, their input helps shape how the functionality evolves.”
