Wialon opens a data center in Saudi Arabia: More resilient globally, ready locally

Wialon partners operate in markets with very different business and regulatory requirements. Our cloud infrastructure reflects this global scope: it supports the Wialon community across more than 160 countries — from Asia to Europe, and from Africa to the Americas — delivering high reliability worldwide.

Wialon has been growing its presence in the Middle East for years, supported by our regional office in Dubai. The next step brings our infrastructure directly into Saudi Arabia. On August 6, 2026, Wialon’s new data center in the Kingdom officially went live, joining our main hubs in Europe and the US and adding resilience to the global setup.

But the Saudi launch is also a story of its own. The Kingdom is one of the fastest-growing markets in the Middle East — and one of the strictest when it comes to commercial fleet data.

Until now, partners working with fleets that had to keep their data inside Saudi Arabia relied on Wialon Local. That option remains, but the new data center adds an in-country cloud route: partners can now also offer Wialon Hosting and Wialon Lite, with data staying on Saudi soil.

Native WASL data retransmission adds another important piece. Wialon can send the required telemetry directly to the national monitoring system, so partners do not need to build their own forwarding mechanism.

Together, local cloud hosting and direct WASL transmission give partners more ways to serve regulated fleets across Saudi Arabia — a combination few fleet management platforms can offer.

The two-million vehicle opportunity

Saudi Arabia is changing fast, and on a scale few countries can match. Vision 2030, the government’s long-term plan to build an economy beyond oil, is driving that shift alongside mega-projects such as NEOM and other giga-projects transforming the Kingdom's northwest.

Developments of this scale do not rise out of the desert without a vast logistics operation behind them. Building infrastructure, moving supplies, and connecting ports across the region all put massive fleets on the road every day.

The Kingdom already has nearly 16 million registered vehicles, and roughly two million of them are commercial — heavy trucks, delivery vans, buses, and last-mile delivery motorcycles. Wialon partners are already capturing that demand: in 2025 alone, the number of vehicles connected to Wialon in Saudi Arabia grew by more than 50%. Today, more than 40 local partner companies use Wialon to power over 100,000 vehicles in the Kingdom.

And as the market grows, what fleets expect from technology is changing too. Basic dots on a map are no longer enough. Businesses are moving toward broader fleet digitalization, adopting video telematics, and using deeper analytics to manage fuel and operational costs.

But winning in this booming market means playing by two non-negotiable rules:

• The data border: Commercial telemetry data for regulated fleet projects must be hosted inside Saudi Arabia.

• The government pipe: The required fleet data must be transmitted directly to WASL, the national transport monitoring system.

Native WASL data retransmission, out of the box

Alongside local data hosting, commercial fleets in Saudi Arabia are required to share live telemetry with WASL — the national vehicle-monitoring platform developed by Elm and mandated by the Transport General Authority (TGA).

Wialon supports native WASL retransmission directly within the platform, allowing partners to meet regulatory requirements without building separate data pipelines. This gives an easy, compliant way to connect and manage fleets across the Kingdom.

Wialon Hosting or Wialon Lite? It depends on the fleet

Both products can now be hosted in Saudi Arabia. The right choice comes down to what the customer actually needs.

What the Saudi launch changes for Wialon partners

For partners in Saudi Arabia, the effect is immediate: more regulated fleet projects are now within reach. They can keep cloud data inside the Kingdom, send the required telemetry to WASL through Wialon, and choose Wialon Lite or Wialon Hosting depending on what the fleet actually needs.
