In September, we launched Wialon Platform, a no-code solution builder created to power the next generation of fleet digitalization. Although the product has only just entered the market, it has already attracted strong interest from Wialon partners and other industry players, all actively exploring its capabilities and sharing enthusiastic feedback.

And this is only the beginning.

Wialon Platform is evolving rapidly, with new features and improvements already planned for release. The first updates highlighted in this article make the platform even more convenient and powerful for service providers and their customers. Let’s explore them!

What Wialon Platform is

Wialon Platform is a solution builder for next-generation fleet digitalization. It gives telematics service providers the freedom to create, customize, and deliver applications under their own brand and vision — all without development overhead.

The platform is ideally suited for small and mid-sized fleets in compliance-driven regions such as Europe. It combines flexibility, scalability, and reliability, empowering service providers to build tailored fleet management solutions faster and manage them with full control.

Smarter notifications and messages with placeholders

Automation setup in Wialon Platform Studio — the workspace where service providers configure and manage their projects — enables users to create rules that automatically trigger predefined actions such as sending notifications, assigning labels, executing commands, or creating tasks and services.

The new placeholders feature on the Automations tab allows personalizing messages and notifications with real-time data — no manual typing or formatting needed.

Placeholders act as dynamic tags that automatically insert specific details into messages when an automation is triggered. When setting up an online notification, creating a service or task, or configuring email messages, users will now see a ready-made list of relevant placeholders to choose from.

Among the available options are practical elements, including device and driver names, event time, geofence, address details, and various telemetry parameters such as speed and ignition status. With a single click, the placeholder is added, and the system automatically replaces it with real data once the event occurs.

An even broader set of placeholders is available for deactivation triggers. For example, users can now track not only when a connection was lost but also when it was restored, including the address, time, and any related parameter values.

Enhanced maps management

At the product launch stage, service providers could configure map service usage for tiles in Wialon Platform Studio, but all configured services were shared across clients. Reverse geocoding was supported but required backend configuration, so Gurtam Maps were used by default.

Now, the Maps management page in Studio offers several new capabilities:

  • Configure separate map service keys for reverse geocoding and/or tiling
  • Access geocoding providers supported by flespi
  • Control map service access for individual customers

These improvements allow service providers to use different keys of the same map provider for tiling and geocoding or to assign unique keys per customer, making usage control easier and more precise.

Expanded sensor options

When Wialon Platform launched, service providers could already set up sensors to process telemetry data from their devices, such as engine temperature, refrigerator temperature, seatbelt status, or acceleration.

The latest update expands this list with sensors for counters, including mileage and engine hours, as well as an ignition sensor.

All relevant sensors can now be configured conveniently in one place — on the Sensors tab within the Device details page. As with all other sensors, sensor templates for the new types can be created and reused across other connected devices.

New dashboard widgets

Dashboards in Wialon Platform help service providers and their customers track fleet performance in real-time through visual, easy-to-read widgets. With widgets, each dashboard can be customized to highlight the most relevant insights — from the total number of connected devices for service providers to fleet utilization or idling rate for customers.

Now, dashboards have become even more informative. In Wialon Platform Studio, widgets that display changes in customers’ devices show the number of enabled (billable) devices directly on the charts, making it easier to track active usage at a glance.

Another enhancement has been introduced in Wialon Platform FleetSpace, the workspace designed for fleet owners. We’ve added a dozen new dashboard widgets covering trip analysis, driver assignment, geofences, and maintenance.

For example, the new maintenance widgets allow users to monitor KPIs such as mean time to recovery (MTTR), mean time between failures (MTBF), downtime, and maintenance costs, and to analyze how these values change over time.

With these updates, new dashboards will provide a deeper, more actionable view of fleet performance.

New search and filtering

A new search and filtering component has been introduced across Wialon Platform, providing faster and more intuitive navigation on all pages.

With multiple criteria available, it is now easier to locate items by name, status, and other attributes. The updated Date and Time filter includes a calendar picker that supports selecting single dates, ranges, or convenient presets such as Today or Last 7 days.
