As we move into October and the season gets into full swing, it’s the perfect moment to look back at the latest updates and enhancements we introduced to Wialon Hosting and its lightweight version LeaseControl over the past quarter.
Curious to see everything you get? Let’s dive into the new features and enhancements in detail below.
Wialon’s video functionality has received a couple of significant updates in the 3rd quarter of 2025, unlocking new opportunities for partners.
Video files from MDVRs can now be stored not only in the Wialon cloud but also on any S3-compatible servers. Partners can choose to create either a single shared storage for all their clients or a separate storage for each client.
This update delivers 3 key benefits:
No more storage limits
After the introduction of the update, fleet operators are no longer limited to the standard 5 GB per unit in Wialon cloud storage, which is especially important for clients with high video volumes. Now, long-term, high-resolution video archiving is possible without compromises on quality.
Compliance and data sovereignty
In many countries, regulations require personal data to be stored within national borders. Our update enables compliance by allowing video files to be stored on local servers. This removes legal barriers to collaboration with government agencies and organizations that enforce strict data policies.
Hybrid solution for the ideal balance of control and functionality
Video processing and analytics are covered by the powerful and reliable Wialon Hosting, while sensitive data can be saved to an external location under client’s full control.
With the introduction of the Traffic counter feature each unit now displays a label that tracks video traffic usage. Label color (grey, orange, red) provides a clear visual alert as data limits are approached. This helps users stay in control of their resources and prevent unexpected monitoring interruptions. The counter adjusts automatically to each user’s settings, whether managed manually or through automatic package renewals.
In addition to the 2 updates mentioned above, the video functionality is now available by default for all top-tier accounts.
Geofence reports now include an option to display not only time spent inside geofences but also periods outside them. Users can choose to show intervals inside, outside, or both through the new Interval type setting in the report tables. This enhancement simplifies monitoring — users can now track time when units leave designated areas using only geofence data, without configuring additional setups.
The new Interval type option in the settings tab
A new setting in report templates allows users to define how a geofence exit is detected: either by the 1st message outside the zone (default) or by the last message inside. This flexibility improves reporting accuracy, especially for units that transmit data infrequently.
The new option is available in the General section of the report template settings
Reports now display start and end times for fuel fillings, fuel drains, and battery charges. These details provide clearer event data and enable more precise tracking of fuel and energy usage.
Reports now support administrative unit fields alongside custom fields, providing greater flexibility in handling internal data. This allows key values to be included directly in Wialon reports without the need for external processing. The fields can be added through the custom column option in the report template using the admin_field("name") function.
We’ve improved how Wialon handles reasons for unit deletion. This feature is especially useful for partners with dealer networks who want to stay informed about why their dealers delete units.
The list of reasons has been restructured for clarity, and users can now select more than one. Selected reasons are displayed in the Trash and can be used as filters to quickly find deleted units by specific cause.
Sensor data can now be analyzed directly from the Info tab. With a single tap, users can open a chart for any sensor, zoom and scale for a convenient view, and check exact values by selecting specific points on the chart.
This allows users to quickly analyze data, identify issues, and monitor fleet activity in depth — all directly from their phones.
Users can now assign drivers to units directly from the mobile app. The update helps to manage everything in one place — users can assign or unassign one or multiple drivers from the unit menu, view all available and assigned drivers, and quickly find anyone by name using the search feature.
LeaseControl now comes with new tools that give fleet operators greater control, stronger security, and more flexibility in managing leased vehicles. Here’s what’s new:
Locator lets fleet operators share a unit’s real-time location through customizable links — users can set the activation time, define how long the link stays active, add notes, geofences, and sensor values, and even include the unit’s track.
The Locator feature allows users to share vehicle’s location through customizable links
SECO commands can now be issued to remotely disable a vehicle’s engine to ensure safer and more effective vehicle recovery.
Users can now deactivate units without permanently removing them from the system. This feature can be useful for companies that operate certain vehicles, such as road snow cleaners or harvesters, during specific times of the year and prefer not to monitor them in other seasons.
Unit deactivation in CMS Manager
2 new notification actions have been added to help users always stay in control of their assets: Send mobile notification and Register event for unit. Additionally, Reports now include Sensor tracing and Visited streets report tables, offering better visibility into vehicle behavior.
Mobile app users can now create notifications and view available reports right from the app.
It’s now possible to manage tachograph data in Wialon via the Flespi Tacho Bridge integration. The solution supports connecting a tachograph card reader, automatically downloading driver files, and securely transferring them to Wialon — helping companies meet EU compliance requirements. We’ve prepared a detailed guide to help you get started in our Help center.
Please note that the outdated Tacho module in Wialon remains available but will no longer receive updates.
Wialon Platform also includes native functionality for working with tachograph data — explore the new product in the Wialon suite and learn more about its capabilities. |
That’s it for the Q3 features and updates introduced to Wialon Hosting — but the Wialon team has been busy with much more behind the scenes. Very soon, another article will be published to cover the latest updates to our newest product, Wialon Platform.
